The leadership of Apple Valley Presbyterian Church is made up of elders and deacons. The elders are made up of teaching elders who are called to full time gospel ministry (our pastor) and ruling elders who, along with the pastor, are involved in the shepherding and oversight of the congregation as well as overseeing the ministries of the church.

Deacons

The Scriptures designate the office of deacon as distinct and perpetual in the church. Deacons are called to show forth the compassion of Christ in a manifold ministry of mercy toward the saints and strangers on behalf of the church. To this end they exercise, in the fellowship of the church, a recognized stewardship of care and of gifts for those in need or distress.  – from the Book of Church Order of the OPC, 2011

Paul Dyk - Deacon

Paul grew up on a dairy farm in Ontario, Canada. He met his lovely wife, Neva, while attending Dordt College. Paul works as a consultant for dairy farms in the Midwest. Paul and his family live near Pipe. He and Neva have four daughters.  In his spare time, he follows the Packers and Brewers.

Bill McClone - Deacon

Bill was born and raised in Appleton. He is a principal at a local elementary school in the Appleton Area School District. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Elissa, and their two children. He also enjoys reading, helping others, hiking and all sports. His favorite Bible verse is I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Jerry Shown - Deacon

Jerry was born and grew up in Mesa, Arizona. He met his wife while attending high school and they have seven children. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in economics. After graduation, he and his family moved back and forth between Arizona and Wisconsin several times. He works as a branch manager for a door and hardware company based in Green Bay.

Jerry became a Christian shortly after he was married. Upon being introduced to the Westminster Confession he sought out a reformed, confessional church and joined an OPC congregation in Arizona. After another move he and his family became members at Apple Valley in early 2019. He was ordained as a deacon in the spring of 2021. A favorite verse of Jerry’s is 1 Timothy 1:15: The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
